Kendra Potter

I’ve been working with pregnant bodies since 2009 as a birth doula and teaching prenatal yoga since 2010. My relationship with my own two children began before either of them came earth side, and they taught me to listen to the messages from my deepest knowing. My prenatal yoga training came from Summer Deaver, Dr. James Bae, and Sarah Kay, and my doula training is through Debra Pascali-Bonero.

Through these skilled instructors and my own lived experience, I believe pregnancy and birth to be opportunities for sources of extreme healing, sacred connection, and real pleasure. I am a Native American adoptee, in active reconnection with my family and the Lummi Nation. Becoming a parent made me realize the continuation of a family line and the significance of becoming a good ancestor. My relationship with my own birth mother has taught me that while pregnancy is not always the same joyful story, wellness can begin at any time during gestation, conception, or even before

We can do so much for the future of this planet by caring for the people growing and birthing the next generations. My classes are informed, clear, compassionate, and most importantly, work to bring support and community to a joyful yet sometimes lonely time in a person’s life.

Avery Carroll

Avery is new to the birthing community but received her training under both Kendra Potter and Marisa Wright in 2021 as a doula and postpartum yoga teacher. She is now practicing as a birth and postpartum doula in and around Missoula, Mt. She will be receiving mentoring from Barefoot Midwives, a midwife team in California, is currently enrolled in a trauma-informed doula course through the Midwifery Institute and has participated in multiple DONA affiliated trauma and postpartum workshops.

Avery is passionate about bringing trauma-informed care into birthing spaces and advocating for informed consent along with evidence-based care. She knows firsthand the capacity connection and community have to heal and believes strongly in providing safe spaces for parents to lean, be held, and nurtured. Her lived experience with trauma puts her in a unique position to connect and hold space and as a descendant of the Blackfeet tribe, she is passionate about providing desperately needed resources to everyone, regardless of any financial or social barriers.

She believes in preventative care through traditional and holistic practices and thinks the best thing we can do for birthing people and new families is to keep showing up.
