BIRTH AND POSTPARTUM DOULA

I have always been drawn to holding space for people. After the birth of my first son in 2012 I learned I could combine this with my love of mine, and birth, and so my journey as a doula began. I’m certified through DONA International and continue to practice my doula work as well as hold Birth Trauma Healing Workshops, Classes, and Groups for new and expecting families. The more I immerse myself in my life’s work the more I become a keeper of birth, of the wisdom that every parent has and often wishes to discover. There are so many facets of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum; emotional, physical, spiritual, and it is my honor to find balance and empowerment between each. I hope to see you on this journey!

We focus on intimacy, meditation, sensuality, ritual & ceremony, and sovereignty, with both real-world practices & journaling prompts. We hold space for the vast array of emotions that parenthood entails, including rage & grief, with understanding shoulders to cry on & open, nonjudgmental hearts. We honor the sacred postpartum time by supporting the new parent or parents in their own home for two months after baby comes, with nourishing food, household chores, childcare, and most importantly, love & compassion.

Trained both locally & nationally, this team of gentle but powerful women emphasizes trauma-informed, evidence-based care, with a more holistic, traditional view of birth & postpartum as a journey of both death & rebirth, again & again.

BIRTH & POSTPARTUM DOULA

From the moment I held my sister's leg, witnessing her bring my niece earthside, I knew I wanted to be in the birth space. I have been living in Missoula and working in the peripartum support world since 2016. My experiences and training both locally and nationally are founded in maternal and infant mental health, bonding and attachment support work, social determinants of health, and grief and trauma work. All of that informs my doula care and allows me to deeply and fiercely support any birthing person.

My care is rooted in the belief that mothers deserve to be mothered, that communities who value their children should nurture their parents, and that bringing new life into the world should be honored, celebrated, and revered.

I truly could not be more honored to be a part of your peripartum experience, in whatever way would feel the most nurturing to you. I provide a variety of care and support packages including prenatal support and education, postpartum and infant care preparation, birth doula support, community referral services, bonding and attachment support, postpartum overnight care, and postpartum cleaning and cooking.

Jessica Shott

SLEEP COUNSELOR

Jessica Shott here! I’m a certified Infant & Toddler Sleep Consultant located here in Missoula, Montana.

I use a holistic approach to help families with their children’s sleep issues. There are so many misconceptions and falsehoods about what sleep training is all about and all I’ve wanted to do is educate families not just on the methods of sleep training but how to develop healthy sleep habits for their children.

Personally, having family and/or friends tell me how awful or dangerous sleep training is one of the reasons I got into this field. I wanted to educate myself so I can then educate others about the truths and benefits of sleep training. I got my certification through the Family Sleep Institute and I chose this program because they solely base their information on scientific, evidence-based studies. I also have years of experience working with young children with disabilities, mostly with Autism, which led me to get my Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst Certification.

My passion for sleep and behavioral modification has led me to where I am now. Sleep is one of our basic needs and is so important for our children’s cognitive, physical, and physiological development. I provide families with a personalized sleep plan that aligns with their child’s biological sleep needs by using evidence-based behavioral techniques that have been proven to work. Most importantly, I work with these families to develop a plan that fits with their values & philosophies around sleep.

There is no one size fits all approach and I’m committed to guiding families through the sleep training process. Not to mention, I also love to sleep!

Dr. Lindsey completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Montana Western. She considers herself a lifetime learner and is pursuing additional training in pediatrics and pregnancy through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, (ICPA). She offers care that is specific to pregnancy and can help alleviate discomforts such as low back pain, sciatic pain, anterior pelvic pain, a.k.a. “Lightning crotch,” round ligament pain, and more that come with pregnancy. While Dr. Lindsey has a great love of working with mommas and kiddos, she is just as excited to help any person reach their greatest potential.

In her spare time, she loves to participate at church, play the piano and cello, read, and go for hikes with her Great Dane, (Evie). She is looking forward to meeting you and invites you to come into the office to say hello and join the office family.
